Stacker cranes

A stacker crane is a step beyond a vertical lift module: instead of one column there are two racking blocks and a robot that travels along the aisle between them, retrieves a drawer from the specified location and delivers it to the access window. The height and length of the system are matched to the hall, so the stacker crane fills cubic capacity that ordinary racking cannot use.

Construction

The drawers have reinforced cross-members and PE-HD polyethylene guides that reduce friction and wear. The depth and number of levels in a drawer are adjustable. The enclosure is powder-coated in RAL colours. Control is via an LCD touchscreen with code access, optionally with a proximity badge reader.

Safety and options

• class 4 light barriers and an electric curtain in the window,
• zone indicators every 25 mm,
• ESD protection for discharge-sensitive electronics,
• storage in a controlled environment: air conditioning and ventilation,
• access windows at the front, rear and sides, for several workstations at once.

Who it’s for

Industrial logistics with a large number of SKUs, tool stores, libraries and archives, electronics warehouses. A stacker crane makes sense where the volume is too large for a single vertical lift module and the hall is high.

What we do as ErgoFlow

We start the project with data: number of SKUs, turnover, dimensions, withdrawals per hour. That gives the size of the system and the number of windows. We integrate the stacker crane with the WMS or ERP through SmartSync, commission it, provide training and service it. Manufacturer's warranty: two years, with the option to extend.
